Cube F.A.Q

How to overclock your Cube, by Boris Jotic

This hack is unsupported. You may damage your Cube doing what is described below. Do it at your own risk. We won't be responsible for any damage that might happen to you or your Cube.

1. What you need

2. How to

3. Important

1. You'll need a very fine soldering iron like this one:

more you'll need some fine solder.

The needed resistors are:

Coal resistor 0,1 Watt 1k Ohm

(see the ones I used in comparison with the original one-feat. P.'s finger)

For the speed settings u may use my table:

2.

  • Disassemble Cube (use my other FAQ @ Cube-Zone.com)
  • Bend the resistors in an "U" form
  • Locate the speed setting area
  • Desolder the original resistor
  • Solder the resistors to the wished CPU speed setting (use magnifing glass)
  • Reassemble the Cube

Your card should look similar like this one (depending which speed you've choosen)

3. Important

The overclocked CPU (stock 450->550) works well with:

  • OS X 10.1
  • OS X 10.1.2 Server
  • OS X 10.2

It will however NOT work with: OS X 10.1.5 !!! If you move the mouse into the dock, your screen will immediately freeze !!!
