xPod : iPod on Linux

Tex9 has created xPod. xPod provides full iPod support for Linux users. It is a plugin for xTunes (a clone of iTunes developped for Linux) that allows simple drag-and-drop of songs and playlists onto an iPod. xpod is currently in beta testing. You can apply to be a beta tester. Version 1.0 will be released soon.

iPod promos in Europe.

Some stores in Europe, such as Surcouf (in France) are making iPod promos. If you buy a 10 gigas iPod and a case, you'll pay it 549 € (the price of the 5 gigas iPod) instead of 715 € (taxes included). This offer is valid till the end of June. New iPods are probably coming at MW NY. Stay tuned....

PodUtil 1.0b2

PodUtil is a small utility that enables you to copy the contents of your iPod to any Mac that has a firewire port. PodUtil will sort the copied files by Artist and/or by Album, and can assosiate copied files with many MP3 players (useful if you don't want all the music files opening back up with iTunes). It can also manage iPod contacts. It will scan the iPod you select for contacts, and display them in a list. You can then edit or create contacts, which are saved automatically. PodUtil is most useful when you keep it on your iPod. Then, you can plug it into any Mac and use it to copy the files to that Mac or manage your contacts on the road.

iPod updater 1.1 problems.

"Probably shouldn't be asking this question here, but I'm desperate.... I can't get Updater 1.1 to install on my ipod. It keeps giving me this message that an ipod is connected to the computer, but is not mounted to the desktop. I've tried every option with the ipod (update automatically, update manually, enable firewire disk usage, etc.) I can't find any help with this. "
